Sizing Cushion

  1. Familiarise yourself with the cushion-sizing template provided and the cushion sizes available.
  2. Hold the sizing template under the patient's nose, and use it to determine the most suitable cushion size. Ideally, the outer edge of the patient's nose should sit on the grey band in the centre of the coloured margins.
  3. Select the matching cushion and try it on your patient for comfort and fit.

Sizing Frame

  1. Use the frame-sizing template provided as a guide to help you choose the correct frame.
  2. If the mask frame falls back over the patient's head or sits too close to their ears, it is too large. Try a smaller frame.
  3. If the mask frame falls forward over the patient's head or sits too close to their eyes, it is too small. Try a larger frame.

  6. Unfasten the upper headgear straps, and pull them evenly until the mask is secure and comfortable.

Managing leak

If air is escaping the mask cushion from any area other than the vent, try the following steps to locate and stop the leak.

  1. If any air is escaping from different areas of the cushion, try pulling it away from your patient's face and letting it reseal itself.
  2. If your patient feels air is escaping from the top half of the cushion, try adjusting the upper headgear straps until there is a secure seal.
  3. Ensure the frame is centred on the patient's head and the air tubing is not pulling on their mask.
